What you've probably heard

Three promises you've heard. Here's what the IRS looks at.

"Settle for pennies on the dollar."

The IRS looks at your income, assets and allowed expenses. A settlement depends on what it can collect before its time runs out.

"You qualify for the Fresh Start program."

"Fresh Start" refers to IRS rule changes from 2011, not a program to enroll in. The IRS still checks whether you meet the rules for the option you request.

"We'll stop the IRS today."

A power of attorney lets someone represent you. It does not erase the balance or lift a levy. The IRS needs the required returns and a basis for an agreement.

How it works

Three steps. You know the price at each one.

STEP 1
Start with a free 15-minute call.

Bring the notice. We explain it and whether a review makes sense. We reply within one business day.

STEP 2
Then a $395 IRS transcript review.

Transcripts pulled with your signed permission, with an answer in writing. You know what is possible and what the work would take.

STEP 3
Then one flat fee for the work.

Agreed before it starts. Chad does the work he quoted, from missing returns to the IRS agreement. Any fee the IRS itself charges is separate.

Cases from the files

What it looked like for people who came in holding a letter.

Owed about $91,000.
Bank levy · one return unfiled · twelve years of balances

The record showed about $1,500 a month coming in against $3,500 the IRS allows. We filed the return and the financial statement. The IRS placed the account in hardship status. Collection stopped.

L.J., Illinois
Owed about $9,100.
Four years prepared by someone else · an IRS bill for two more

The record showed two stimulus payments he never received and never claimed. We re-ran all four years. Corrected federal balance: about $4,500.

T.C., New York
Owed about $10,900.
Two unfiled years · a withholding mistake · the IRS wanted $170 a month

The record showed little room after allowed expenses. We filed both years and negotiated a plan at $61 a month. By the time the collection clock runs out in 2036 he will have paid about $7,100. The rest, roughly $9,000 with interest, expires.

S.A., Washington
